Day 30: The Function of Guilt
Today we explore the evolution of guilt as a way of keeping us socially connected. However, guilt can lead to resentment and disconnection when we don't see its message and come back to a place of love. We also explore how we internalise our guilt into 'should-ing' ourselves. We do a meditation on listening to what is beneath our guilt.
Today your practice is bringing compassion to the emotion of guilt. You will be guided to connect with something that brings up guilt for you, something you do not mind staying with for a while.
Guilt and Should
Today explore where guilt emerges for you and see if you can bring love and compassion to this messenger.
Also, notice where you 'should' yourself. Instead of saying 'I should do x,y,z..' instead, decide to commit to either 'I would love to do x' or 'I am not going to do x'. Try to bring compassion to your decision to do or not do something. Notice the difference.
