Day 3: Focusing on the Good
Today we explore what is good or pleasant in your life right now. We will look at the evolutionary advantage of the mind's tendency towards negativity bias and why we tend to focus on the unpleasant or what we might perceive as bad. We will look at how to untangle an experience by breaking them into; physical sensations, thoughts, emotions and behaviour.
Practice for today the body scan. It is such a fundamental building block to connecting with yourself. Remember mastery comes from repetition, the more you practice connecting with the body the easier it becomes to drop out of lots of 'head thinking' This takes practice. We will build on this over the coming days.
Connect with the pleasant and the good in your life. Write down the experience however small. Then deconstruct it, look at what physical sensations you were aware of, your thoughts present and the emotions. Explore what it is like to do this and what it feels like to recall a pleasant experience.
