Day 11: Gratitude & Appreciation - Widening the Circle of Compassion
Today we explore the impact that being in a state of gratitude and appreciation has on the brain. We also look at how it is to widen the circle of compassion.
Your meditation practice for today is widening the circle of compassion to include a good friend and neutral people. You are invited to include in this frontline staff including; doctors, nurses, shop staff, lorry drivers, food producers.
Today lets focus on what you are grateful for by keeping a gratitude journal. You can do this every day to build up your focus on the positive.
Consider the following as a guide:
A relationship, possibly reach out to them, maybe an old relationship
Something simple or small near you e.g. cloud, bird etc.,
Something you can do.
Consider these question to set up your day:
What would make today great?
What is my intention for today?
What positive thing can I say to myself?
Reflecting on the day
What made me smile today?
Where did I show strength and resilience?
What one person could I thank for helping me?
You are invited to write a gratitude letter (or letters) to people who have had a positive impact in your life. Consider sending it if you would like to.
