Weekend Retreat Information

Next Weekend 16th-18th February 2024

Time: Retreat starts Friday 16th February 6pm (arrival from 5pm to settle in) and ends 18th February 4pm

Venue: Spanish Point Spirituality House

Much of this retreat will be held in silence to support participants in going deeper into their practice. Ongoing support will be provided throughout the retreat

Who is this retreat for?

This retreat is for people who wish to learn how to dive deeper into healing physical and emotional difficulties such as stress, tension, and trauma (big T trauma and little t trauma). Participants will learn to release trapped energies and be able to use these energies to direct their life.

The weekend will be a deep dive into the soma (wholeness of the body). Participants will engage in practices that help them to release the trapped energy of fight, flight, freeze, fawn, and flop from their system.

Imagine this… "you have had some really difficult experiences in your life, stressors or traumas and they haven’t fully processed and metabolised through your system."

The issues literally get stored in the tissues of your body.

Then you find yourself subconsciously trying to keep a lid on difficult emotions.

This requires a lot of energy… in fact, it’s exhausting… it shows up in physical and emotional illness, stress, tension, anxiety, depression, disproportionate reactions to life, overwhelm, burnout etc.,

Now imagine if you could tap into the spaces in the body where the hurts and pain are held and release them.

Thus, freeing the energy so your mind and body have more resources at their disposal to embrace life with greater ease and compassion.

Imagine if you didn’t have to keep a lid on these stressors. The body wants to heal but it must do so from the body and not the head.

Now imagine how much more energy you would have for living your life!

This weekend is going to be incredible, you will go on a journey through the soma (wholeness of the body) and come home to more peace, connection, and love within you.

Don't miss it!

With gentle guidance, participants will develop the skills to face what is held and trapped in their bodies from a lifetime of reactivity, stress, and trauma.

Participants will learn to gently tune into their past experiences and follow the wisdom of their body's intention in releasing trapped energies of fight and flight when freeze or appease states were adopted as the safest survival approach. This process helps release the past, cultivate compassion for themselves and others, and focus their energies towards living joyfully in the present. .

It is particularly suitable for those who find it difficult to integrate mindfulness or yoga practices into their lives and have patterns or tendencies they would like to face and develop a compassionate attitude toward themselves.

The training is based on a scientific understanding of the importance of compassion, and self-compassion and the positive effects of most components have been separately demonstrated in studies among clinical and non-clinical populations.

Throughout the retreat, you will work with your own stress, pain, and illness with deepening compassion. As trauma happens in the body it needs to be released from the body thus the somatic work enables emotion that gets stuck in the body to move and release.

Greater awareness of the ego will develop and its role in keeping you stuck with a harsh inner critic/bully that pervades all of life.

You will develop greater compassion for yourself, your suffering, and for the suffering of humanity.

This awareness provides the opportunity to engage with life in a compassionate way and is the foundation upon which new perspectives are built.

As the emphasis is on bringing compassion into everyday life journaling is an important aspect of the retreat so bring a journal with you.

A safe and supportive environment will be created for this work and learning through:

  • Guided instruction in meditation practices.
  • Lovingly stretching and coming home to the body in meditation and yoga.
  • Group dialogue and discussions aimed at enhancing compassion in everyday life.
  • Individually tailored instruction.
  • Personal reflection through journaling.
  • Practical tools to take home and integrate into your everyday life.
