Hatha Yoga is considered a gentle but strong yoga. It focuses on static poses using isometric holds to build strength, balance and flexibility.
This style of yoga is great for beginners and intermediate yogi's as it is both physically and mentally challenging.
Yoga is about creating unity between the body and the spirit and calming the fluctuations of the mind. Hatha means 'force' in Sanskrit. Practising Hatha yoga is about bringing intentional force or effort to connect with the body and the spirit through postures, breath and focus of the mind.
Many people think that they need to be flexible to do yoga, actually, the opposite is true we need yoga to maintain our flexibility, strength and balance. It's that's a bit like saying "I need my teeth to be clean before I can brush them!"
